Jennifer
Cauhorn, Music Director:
Jenny is the founder and current
Music Director of the Queen City Bronze
handbell ensemble. Jenny has an extensive
handbell resume dating back twenty years.
She was a founding member of the Tulsa Festival
Ringers and has rung for the Dallas Handbell
Ensemble and numerous church bell choirs.
For the past 11 years she has also been the
handbell director for the Chancel Ringers
of Greenhills Community Presbyterian Church.
In addition to handbells Jenny has also logged
30 years experience playing flute and 35
years playing piano. She currently works
as Executive Director of the American Guild
of English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR) and enjoys
reading, cooking, and attending wine tasting
events. |

Dawn
Bates:
Dawn is the newly elected Treasurer
of Queen City Bronze and brings a strong
musical and financial history to the group.
Dawn began a musical career as a flute player
and Field Commander while in school and has
established a love of handbells over the
last several years. Dawn comes to the group
with 10 years experience playing with her
church group, the John Wesley Handbells.
Dawn’s musical background makes her
valuable to the group as both a bass clef
and treble clef ringer. Dawn currently works
in the Finance Department for the city of
Blue Ash and serves as the Finance Chairperson
at John Wesley United Methodist Church. Outside
of handbells, Dawn spends time with her family
and enjoys being a referee for soccer. |

Dan
Dayton:
Dan brings 15 years of handbell
experience to QCB. He has built his experience
by ringing with the Mason United Methodist
Choir, the Jubilation Ringers of Centerville,
Virgina, and the National City Christian
Cathedral ringers of Washington DC. In addition
to handbells, Dan has more than 30 years
experience playing the accordion, trombone,
and piano. In addition he has 37 years acting
experience. He also currently sings with
the Cincinnati Choral Society and was recently
elected as President-Elect for Queen City
Bronze. Dan stays very busy keeping up with
his family and working as a Professor of
Business Management for Brown Mackie College. |

Amy
DeVeny:
Amy is the newly elected Secretary
of Queen City Bronze. This talented musician
began ringing handbells back in her elementary
school days. For more than 24 years now,
Amy has rung with an extensive number of
groups and organizations. She has also spent
the last 17 years performing as a solo bell
ringer and 20 years as a small ensemble ringer.
In addition to ringing she has spent 1 year
directing a 6th-grade youth choir and 2 years
directing an adult choir. When not spending
time ringing handbells, or playing piano
or clarinet, Amy enjoys DIY home projects
and scrapbooking. |

Matthew
Dutkevicz, Associate Conductor:
Queen City Bronze is the first handbell
ensemble Matt has joined since moving to
Cincinnati. Matt has played for many different
bell choirs in northern Ohio throughout the
past 15 years. He has played with the Youth
Bells of Akron (Akron, Ohio), Monroe Street
Methodist (Toledo, Ohio), and the Collingwood
Community Handbell Ensemble (Toledo, Ohio);
a group he built from the ground up. He has
five years directing experience, working
with notable handbell directors like Bill
Payne. When not working as a Pricing Analyst,
or ringing with Queen City Bronze Matt enjoys
spending time with his dog, Wimbledon and
catching up on his favorite shows. |

Amy
Dutro:
For the last 6 years, Amy has
been developing her skills as a ringer in
several different areas of the art. Amy is
not only an original member of the Queen
City Bronze, she also rings for the Trinity
Tower bells, the handbell choir from Milford
United Methodist Church. For fun, Amy enjoys
spending time with her family. When her schedule
allows for it, Amy likes to travel with the
family and be a coach for her sons’ baseball
teams. |

Leisa
Frooman:
For the past 18 years Leisa
has enjoyed playing for a few local handbell
organizations. She spent ten years playing
with the Anderson Hills United Methodist
Church, and eight years at Mt. Washington
Presbyterian Church, playing with the Carillon
Ringers. Throughout the last several years
Leisa has attended various bell festivals
in Toledo, Columbus and Cincinnati. In addition
to handbells, she began playing piano at
the age of eight and currently works as a
dance instructor at Linda Krumme’s
School of Dance. In spring of 2009, Leisa
was elected as the first President of Queen
City Bronze and hopes to cement QCB as a
new musical staple in Cincinnati. |

Jeremy
Fry:
Jeremy joins Queen City Bronze
as the newest musician to handbells. Although
he only began ringing with a community handbell
ensemble in Toledo five years ago, Jeremy
brings a wealth of musical knowledge as an
experienced trombonist. In addition to his
performance experience as a brass player,
Jeremy employs his musical background as
a proud member of the Cincinnati Symphony
Orchestra administrative staff during the
week. When he’s not thinking, planning,
playing, or marketing music Jeremy is an
avid reader and tennis fanatic. Jeremy’s
favorite handbell piece is Nocturne in C
Minor by Michael Helman. |

Sandy
Greeb:
When not ice skating, playing
Guitar Hero, or composing music, Sandy rings
handbells….a lot! She began ringing
22 years ago with various groups like the
Coventry Ringers, Chapel Handbell Choir,
and Westminster Handbell Ensemble (select
sextet). She currently plays with Bel Canto
(at First Presbyterian in Middletown) and
the Middletown Performing Arts Academy Handbell
Choir, in addition to QCB. Sandy has attended
a variety of bell clinics and conferences
throughout the US working with many directors,
including William Payne. She has a solid
history of solo and small ensemble bell ringing,
having the opportunity to play on tour in
England with a small sextet ensemble. In
addition to all of her bell experience Sandy
also holds a BA in Music from Miami University
and can also play the violin. |

Jamey
Hobbs:
Jamey travels nearly an hour
and a half each week to be a part of Queen
City Bronze. He enjoys ringing in the bass
with QCB as well as his home church choir
at Grace United Methodist in Washington Court
House, Ohio. In addition to being an outstanding
bass ringer of 10 years, Jamey and his family
have a few of their own bells they use to
perform duets, trios, quartets and more.
When Jamey is not filling the role of assistant
director with his home choir, or ringing
with QCB he is a manager for a fireworks
manufacturer and also raises cattle, goats,
and turkey. Jamey loves backpacking and Kevin
McChesney’s Tempest. |

Kathy
Kellum, Associate Conductor:
Kathy brings a myriad of experience
to QCB as an accomplished keyboardist and
accompanist. She has enjoyed ringing with
Trinity Tower Bells for more than 13 years
and loves to teach piano. During the day,
Kathy is a teacher with Blanchester Local
Schools where she also has the opportunity
to share her musical talents as the assistant
band director and accompanist for choirs
and soloists. At home with her husband Robert
of 31 years, Kathy like to read and garden. |

Wendy
Ransom:
Wendy has built an extensive
resume over the last 28 years playing with
a plethora of various handbell choirs throughout
the U.S. She has played with choirs from
California to Pennsylvania and throughout
that time has devoted seven years time to
directing different choirs along the way.
Wendy has been a ringing participant in the
Area V Festival since 2006 and hopes to continue
that trend ringing with Queen City Bronze.
For the last 2 years Wendy has also spent
time working as a solo bell ringer. Wendy’s
other musical ability is in choral performance.
In addition to QCB she sings with the Voices
of Praise chancel choir at Epiphany United
Methodist Church in Loveland. Outside of
music, Wendy enjoys everything Disney and
spending time with her husband, Doug and
her dog, Milo. |

Joyce
Schmelzer:
Joyce has joined Queen City
Bronze this year after a successful 34 year
history of playing handbells. Her dedication
is shown through traveling eighty miles,
one way for rehearsal with QCB. Some of her
previous handbell engagements have been with
the Bethlehem Lutheran Handbell Choir of
Dundee, Illinios, the Bethany Lutheran Handbell
Choir of Indianapolis, Indiana and Grace
Notes of Resurrection Lutheran in Indianapolis,
Indiana. During her 34 year handbell tenure
she has devoted 22 years to directing a variety
of both adult and children’s choirs.
In addition to handbells, Joyce began playing
organ at age 7 and has sung in different
choirs since grade school. Joyce is a mother
of two and a cat, and she enjoys spending
some quality time in her garden and reading. |
